My first building project was a small house.  It was made of 2x4 studs with a pitched roof covered with shingles.  It had wood siding, but only a single door.   

I was about 9 years old, and my dog and I could both fit in it easily.   That doghouse was still standing and being used by my next dog 10 years later, when I moved to Arizona from a northwest Chicago suburb.

When I moved to Arizona, it was to build and open a family business.   The main building required for that business was a   2,000 square foot structure with a second floor A-frame room over the center 1/3 of the first floor. 

I built this in 1973.  This  was the second building I ever built.   It is still standing strong in 2010.

Realizing that at 21 years old, I really didn't know enough about the art of building,  I offered to help a Contractor friend build his new home.   At the end of the first week of working, he actually paid me money for the work.  I was hooked.  This new experience of working with experienced craftsmen was the beginning of my education, leading me to the decision to make this profession my goal.

That was in 1978.  In the mid 1980's,   I took the Arizona Registrar of Contractor's test, and passed.   I was now officially,   a    General Contractor.

Over the years I have followed the wave of economic ups and downs, beating the odds of failure in the first 5 years typical of many new businesses.    I have met some amazing craftsmen and customers during the ensuing years.

This website is my latest foray into unfamiliar waters.  The site is just a beginning,   small and simple, and just like my knowledge of building, will evolve and improve.

I look forward to meeting many new people as a result of starting this website.
